What is Differin

Differin (Adapalene) is a drug for local acne treatment in patients above 12 years as a monotherapy or in combination with systemic or other topical drugs (oral anti-androgens, antibiotics).

The mechanism of an active component Adapalene is focused upon acne reducing.

Differin is supplied as gel of Differin 0.1% 15g.

Extra care should be taken in:
pregnancy (including planned), and breastfeeding;
eczema or sunburn;
Children under 12 years of age (efficacy and safety have not been reported).

Side effects of Differin cream

redness, peeling, dry skin, irritation, burning and tingling are observed only as local reactions, if applied in excessive quantity.
Allergic reactions to drug are observed as swelling, redness, crust, itching and burning in the drug application area.
Acne may increase at an initial stage of Differin under the drug influence. Positive result is achieved on the second week of regular use.

Avoid during the Differin cream use:

long exposure of UV light (sun, solarium) to avoid burns, because the skin becomes sensitive during this period;
cosmetic procedures like wax depilation to avoid the skin irritation on the drug application area;
means for the skin moisture, containing glycolic acids or alpha hydroxyl.

Differin is a retinoid-like drug. The action mechanism is unknown, but it helps the skin to recover quickly and reduces the acne appearance. Differin is poorly absorbed into the blood, because a risk of drug interactions is very low.
